How it works
Your percentage is the total marks you scored divided by the total available, times 100. Subjects can have different maximums — a 100-mark theory paper and a 50-mark practical — and the totals account for that rather than assuming every paper is out of 100. The average of subject percentages is shown separately because it's a different number whenever the maximums differ, and boards use one or the other.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate percentage of marks?
Divide the total marks you obtained by the total marks available and multiply by 100. Scoring 209 out of a possible 250 is (209 ÷ 250) × 100 = 83.6%.
How do I calculate percentage when subjects are out of different totals?
Sum the marks obtained and sum the maximums separately, then divide. 88/100, 76/100 and 45/50 gives 209 obtained out of 250 available, which is 83.6%. Averaging the three subject percentages instead would give 84.67% — a different figure, which is why both are shown.
Does this calculator give a grade or a CGPA?
No, deliberately. Grade boundaries, pass marks and GPA scales differ by board, country and year, and a calculator that guessed at them would be wrong for most people using it. This does the arithmetic every board agrees on and leaves the grading to your own mark sheet.
Can I add more than five subjects?
Yes — use the Add subject button for as many papers as you need, and remove any rows you do not. Empty rows are ignored rather than counted as zeros, so a half-filled form will not drag your percentage down.
